"Primavara ,primavara
Zimbetul intregi firi,
Dragoste de fluturi galbeni
Si de galbeni trandafiri.
Primavara, primavara.
Tremura luna balaie,
Dorm doi pui de rindunica
Sub o strasina de paie..."

Happiness Is a Moral Obligation

What a good reminder in these tough days I am passing right now...
"For much of my life, I, like most people, regarded the pursuit of happiness as largely a selfish pursuit. One of the great revelations of middle age has been that happiness, far from being only a selfish pursuit, is a moral demand.

When we think of character traits we rightly think of honesty, integrity, moral courage, and acts of altruism. Few people include happiness in any list of character traits or moral achievements.
But happiness is both.

Happiness -- or at least acting happy, or at the very least not inflicting one's unhappiness on others -- is no less important in making the world better than any other human trait.
With some exceptions, happy people make the world better and unhappy people make it worse. This is true on the personal (micro) and global (macro) planes.

The flip side of the damage unhappy people do when they subject others to their unhappiness is the good that people do when they are, or at least act, happy. Just think of how much more you want to help people when you are in particularly happy mood and you realize how much more good the happy are likely to do.

The pursuit of happiness is not the pursuit of pleasure. The pursuit of pleasure is hedonism, and hedonists are not happy because the intensity and amount of pleasure must constantly be increased in order for hedonism to work. Pleasure for the hedonist is a drug.
But the pursuit of happiness is noble. It benefits everyone around the individual pursuing it, and it benefits humanity. And that is why happiness is a moral obligation."

6 months in Leuven

Time really flies when you are spending your time working 10h/day and travelling/partying every weekend...
6 months have passed since I arrived in Leuven, since I started my internship at InBev, since I've met so many great people that for sure I will keep in my heart...
In the same time, 6 months have passed since I left my parents alone in Romania, since I stopped having amazing face to face discussions with my friends (although they still continue via msn/skype..I still miss them), 6 months since I said good bye to AIESEC as a member...
It's hard and I know will not be easier as I decided to spend the next year abroad also...So, after my internship will be over in August, I will continue my journey somewhere else in the world...
Were..still to be decided...
6 months more in Leuven, Belgium...

Happiness

"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared."

Buddha

These days I am happy..

*** happy to have my friends close to me, even if some of them only virtual,

**** happy to be where I am,

*****happy to talk with my parents and know that they are healthy,

******* happy to receive good news regarding the health of dear people to me,

******* happy to see the sun back on the sky,

******** happy to see tulips everywhere, including on my desk from the office and home:)

If everything will only stay like this...And when you think that everything started with a tulip..Small things that make you smile and make you think about how good life is treating you....

Friendship

The little things are most worthwhile...
A quiet word...
A look, a smile...
A hug, a sholder to cry on....
Though sometimes they may seem quite small...
These little things mean the most!!!!!

Monday morning message...

Some time ago, I've received from my friend Mo an email saying " Read this!"..It was a very interesting article about life which I enjoyed it very much, therefore I've subscribed to the newsletter...

Yesterday I received one of this messages, and I really feel like sharing it with you as it describes the best what i am feeling these days..So, enjoy!!!

Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point. Climb slowly, steadily, enjoying each passing moment; and the view from the summit will serve as a fitting climax for the journey. - Harold V. Melchert

Standing close to the walls of the Taj Mahal in India, one is fascinated with the incredible detail of the workmanship. Set into the white marble walls are intricate floral, geometric and calligraphy stone inlays. The magnificence of the pietra dura, whereby thin sections of precisely carved hard and semi-hard gemstones are laid in sockets specially prepared in the surface of the marble, is one of the reasons why the structure is identified as a man-made wonder of the world. The impressive decorative details that can only be appreciated by standing very close to the structure make it easier to understand why centuries ago it took 22 years to complete it.
But as spectacular as the detailed carvings are on the Taj Mahal, to capture the real beauty of it, you have to stand 100 meters or more away from the structure. When looking at the Taj from across the impressive garden that leads to it from the Main Gateway, the building has an almost surreal appearance. The effect of the daylight upon the Taj’s white marble and the symmetry of the structure produce an awe-inspiring visual effect like no other in the world.
Much like appreciating the Taj Mahal, we also must stand back from the details of our frenetic daily schedules in order to see the true beauty of life. Although the challenge of climbing to the top and reaching our goals can be exciting and requires our concentration on the details, we must never forget to “stand back” from time to time and enjoy the view on the way up.
Are you so busy giving attention to the details of chasing your goals and dreams that you are not stopping from time to time to enjoy the beauty of the climb? Do you “stand back” occasionally to focus on the overall good in your life or do you focus too narrowly upon the relatively few things that do not go right? Are you taking time to enjoy and embrace the many simple, but too often unnoticed, beautiful scenes that play out in your life each day?
Take some time this week to “stand back” from the details of your life. Keep in mind that each new day brings a new opportunity to see yourself and the world around you in a new way. As you go throughout your daily routine, never lose sight of the big picture and pause occasionally to enjoy the many beautiful scenes along the way.
